The 2014 Women in Business Conference will take place on Thursday, October 23 at the Holiday Inn Waterfront in Sydney, NS.

Guest speaker for the noon luncheon is Stacey MacNeil, Cape Breton born, CBU educated and now Vice President at Hewlett Packard based in Palo Alto, California. Stacey travels the world in her position as VP of Employee Communications, working with HP’s 330,000 person workforce in 170 countries.

Stacey is a sought after guest speaker and in July, she spoke at an academic summit in Chicago along with speakers from Forbes magazine, the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times and LinkedIn.

Eileen Lannon Oldford, CEO of the host organization, the Cape Breton Small Business Development Centre, said they are delighted to have Ms. MacNeil as Keynote Speaker. “Stacey’s background in communications and business will provide the participants with valuable information and tips on how to succeed in the dynamic and changing world of business”, said Oldford.”Female entrepreneurs in Cape Breton operate their businesses on local, national and global stages and we want to provide them with the tools to make their jobs a bit easier. Having a Cape Breton woman at such a high level with a renowned global enterprise is a great example of the fine local educational opportunities and work ethic of our people. There is no stopping the drive and ambition of people with a passion to succeed and Stacey is a wonderful example of that drive.”

Oldford expressed her thanks to all those at the Shannon School of Business who have made Ms. MacNeil’s participation at the Conference possible. “Ms. MacNeil is a member of the Shannon School of Business Advisory Board”, said Oldford, “and we are most grateful for their co-operation and support in making this presentation possible”.
Traditional highlights of each annual conference will be the Gala Awards Dinner featuring comedian Bette MacDonald as hostess for the Gala, a Trade Show featuring products made by Cape Breton women in business and panel discussions on topics of interest to female entrepreneurs.
